At motat we each had a education led session learning about science. We learnt about sound, magnets and more. I had so much fun in during our session and now I know alot about sound.
Mirror Experiment
Yesterday we experimented on mirrors. We had a concave, convex and a flat mirror. We looked at them inside and then looked at them from the outside.
Orange and Water Experiment
Orange and Water Experiment
Materials:
- Bucket/Container – Orange – Water
Method:
- You wanna fill your bucket with water, make sure that the bucket you use is a decent size.
2. Make your prediction to see if the orange will float or not then place your orange in.
3. After you do that try peeling the orange and see what happens.
Evaluation:
After we placed the unpeeled orange in we found out that it half floated meaning half was in water and the other half was out. When we tried with the peeled orange we were shocked to see the it fully sunk to the bottom. We learnt that all the citrus fruit like orange, lemon and mandarins have skin that helps the fruit float.
Glass and Candle Experiment
This week we are focusing on Science and our first task was that Glass and Candle Experiment. These are my instructions on how we did it.
Prediction/Hypothesis:
My prediction was that the glass was going to break
Equipment/Materials:
- Candle – Lighter
- Cup – Plate (That can hold water)
Method:
1. You wanna grab your plate and place your candle roughly in the middle.
2. You then pour your water onto your plate and make sure not to add too much.
3. You wanna light your candle and place your cup over it. After that you watch and wait carefully.
4. If you want you can add a bit of food colouring so that you can see the water better.
What actually happened:
My prediction was far from right. But after you place your cup of your lit candle and wait a few seconds. The candle will blow out and the water will start to rise.
